Thank you for organizing an Attachment Parenting Month event!
Please register your AP Month events and celebrations in the “Leave a Comment” section below. Include the date, time, location, organizer contact information and any other pertinent information about your event so that site visitors can join your event or get more information about it and we can add it to our Calendar of Presence.
Registration is free. All we ask is that your activity is consistent with API’s Eight Principles of Parenting.
Please allow 7-10 days for our volunteer staff to update the calendar with your information.
Once your celebration is over, use the ‘Donate’ button above to donate funds raised to help API further its mission.

NYC APM Celebration plans include :
* an open house featuring display of our birth experience quilt we’ve been working on over the summer to help us artistically express our birth stories;
* a member drive that will involve some give-aways and other goodies to be procured from local donors;
* a leader applicant cultivation and drive including gatherings to complete applications and discuss questions (started this summer);
* an attempt to have city and/or state officials proclaim October as APM;
* an invitation to garden with the family on Park Day (Oct 25) (event envisioned to include local businesses, music, demonstrations and contests)
Cherished Children API’s APM Celebration has three parts:
1. October 8 – A “Maintaining Presence During the Holidays” meeting.
2. TBD – Fundraiser/Baking Competition
3. Outreach event at Boulder Farmer’s Market.
I’ll check back in when we have dates for the second two events!
API Speaks will be hosting a blog carnival on the theme of “Giving Our Children Presence” for the whole month of October. There will be giveaways, a photo contest, and other fun bloggy events as well.
We will have an outreach table at our area’s largest street festival, providing information and offereing baby carrier try ons. Last year we did this, with great results and this year we have encouraged LLL to have a table too. In The Street attracts crowds of over 50,000!

Tuesday, October 21, 2008, 7:00 pm – Ridge and Valley Music Together, 229 Main Street (1st floor), Hackettstown – Celebrate Attachment Parenting Month with us as we kick off the Skylands API (NJ) Chapter with an Open House! Network with other families, learn more about our group and about API, enjoy snacks and drinks, and have a chance to win door prizes.
10/17-10/19 – La Leche League of Washington Area Conference, The Caring Continuum. Marriott Redmond Towne Center, Redmond, WA. Lysa Parker and Barbara Nicholson will be presenting sessions along with Marian Tompson, La Leche League Founder, Pam Leo, author of Connection Parenting, Jan Hunt, founder of The Natural Child Project. Lysa and Barbara will be promoting their new book on Attachment Parenting and doing a book signing at this event.
10/3 – 10/5 – Joining Hands to Honor the Past and Create the Future – The 9th International Educational Conference and General Assembly for the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM). Hosted by Infant Massage USA at the Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield, CO. Visit API Co-Founder Barbara Nicholson and local API members & leaders at the API table at this wonderful event!

The Triangle chapter of Attachment Parenting International, API, http://www.triangleapi.org, will hold Triangle API Fall Festival as part of October’s Attachment Parenting Month, “Giving Our Children Presence.”
The Triangle API Fall Festival will be held at Pullen Park on Sunday October 12 2008 at Shelter 4 from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm. We have several sponsors and guest speakers attending including My-Gym which will be setting up a play area for the children. There will be raffles, donation sale tables and lots of activities and events for the children. Many of the local businesses have donated items to be sold, auctioned or raffled off as well as many international companies from Co-op America.

For AP Month, I plan to kick off a new API Support Group to serve the TriCities in East Tennessee/SW Virginia. Part of the kick-off activities include a house party and hosting a home-based business fundraiser with proceeds to help start our group and for AP Month. I am also doing a email fundraising request on behalf of API to family and friends, with tips about giving your children presence.
Tuesday, October 21, at 7:30 p.m. – La Leche League meeting at York, Nebraska – I’ll be available with materials to talk about Attachment Parenting and API. Come and learn about Giving Our Children Presence! And perhaps this could be the start of Nebraska’s first API Support Group.
In October 2008 – API is launching a new members-only online magazine called The Attached Family. With articles updated weekly, this website will feature about 30 articles at one time, along with polls, photo contests, and other interactive features. Read about all kinds of AP topics, from pregnancy and childbirth to sleep and discipline to AP in working families and AP fathers. Be sure to check out the Fall 2008 issue of The Journal of API to learn how to access this new member benefit!
Friday, October 17, at 2:30 p.m. – Christian mother’s group meeting at Lincoln, Nebraska – I’ll be available with materials to discuss API and AP. This meeting is held in a private home, so RSVPs are required; if interested in attending, e-mail me at editor@attachmentparenting.org.
Mommy Matters Maternity Boutique and Family Resource Center in Fresno CA will offer free seminars each Saturday during October. West Portland API (Portland, Oregon http://www.orgsites.com/or/pdxapi/index.html) will be having membership drive throughout the month of October. Prizes for the raffle have been donated from local stores, boutiques and other retailers. The grand prize winner will receive an Ergo carrier! The Snohomish County Chapter of Attachment Parenting International, API, will hold its 1st Annual API Family Holiday Bazaar Saturday, November 8th, 2008, as part of October’s Attachment Parenting Month, “Giving Our Children Presence.”
The API Family Bazaar will be held at the Lake Stevens Boys and Girls Club Community Room from 9:00 am-1:00 pm. We have several sponsors, exhibitors and an Arts and Crafts Table for our children. There will be raffles, local artisans, crafters and smal family-friendly business’s. We will have some lcal entertainment, a clothing swap and bake sale.

The Baton Rouge Attachment Parenting Meetup Group (http://attachmentparenting.meetup.com/481/) will be having a meetup at the Baton Rouge Zoo October 9th to celebrate AP Month and have FUN together with our children. We are also posting and discussing each days “presence” message from API on our message board. We welcome any Moms or expecting Moms in our community who are practicing the principals of AP or interested in attachment parenting to check out our website and join our group.
