Today when your child asks for that thing that you cannot give – the 3rd piece of cake, that pony, the $$$ Lego set -instead of saying no (or a yes-ier version of no), play a game of “I wish I could……”. “Ah, now, let’s see, if we got you a rainbow pony, where do you think it would live? What would we feed it?” You may be amazed at what you hear!
